"Chile is a pride for Latin America and has a series of invisible assets"
The man who amassed a fortune from technology companies review their views on innovation and highlights some Chileans.
By Leonardo Ruiz
Wenceslao Casares (37) is from Argentina, lives in California and annually is between three and four times to Chile. Innate entrepreneur, believes that James has changed in the last 15 years to become an example and pride of what is possible in Latin America, highlighting further economic progress, social development, order, respect for institutions and idiosyncrasy of the people to treat each other, which Chileans called invisible assets, because "they are hard to find in Latin America and the rest of the world, but in Chile are very present."
The co-CEO of Bling Nation, a company focused on mobile payments, and is devoting part of their time these days, it became internationally known for creating in 1994 the first service provider of Internet country and then by the millionaire selling online brokerage Patagon to Banco Santander. Casares
believes that in five years there will be a city in Latin America that will be the comparison of Silicon Valley in the region and that's where capital funds around the world will have their offices, "where Facebook and Google this world will handle the rest of Latin America. " The idea is that Santiago trasandino operate as the umbilical cord technology in the region, because it would have an immediate impact on traffic volume, investors, entrepreneurs, universities and schools but warned that this may not happen so, fierce competition mean Rio, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. But argues that if it depended on him "would here."
Wences, as is known in his environment, he admits that not much time to visit Santiago when passing, but admits his admiration for the urban center of El Golf neighborhood and assesses how it has evolved Bellavista sector, with some start ups that "merging technology with bohemia." He likes to go at River Edge and bring their partners to Balthus, as well relax and enjoy the architecture of the place, his view is privileged to be located within walking distance of the Mapocho.
Fanatic SMEs
trasandino This geek says that SMEs by nature tend to be more innovative than large firms to have fewer restrictions, instead of startups are born with a mission to innovate ... less people, less and less established business processes that take care. Among the national projects is Arch Daily descata Casares, site architecture seen in the world, made by the people of Platform Network; Welcu a company to manage events received an investment of Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, and finally Atakama Labs, operator and developer of social games, that from a study of Santiago makes games for the world market.
His love for innovation is strong. He was appointed in March a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum , among other curiosities is that participated in the group that launched Clandescuento Needish, a company that was later acquired by Groupon. Today is totally focused on Bling Nation, where they observe how new social networks can improve transactions involving money.
